Special Announcement: Those persons who have been guests at
the Retreat House in the past are familair with Emma who
has prepared many wonderful meals. Emma has been overcome with
health problems and is now living in an assisted care facility.
We will also miss her special gifts and hard work. .

Unfortunately, it has become necessary to cancel the Spring Weekend Retreat for urgent repairs. Other refrubishings will take place during this time.
Reservations for ALL EVENTS are made through the Convent (410-747-4104), NO MORE THAN TWO MONTHS in advance of the event, and are on a FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED basis.
PLEASE DO NOT MAKE A RESERVATION IF YOU CANNOT BE PRESENT FOR THE ENTIRE PROGRAM
Reservations may be made by telephone (410-747-4104) at these times:
10:00 am to 11:45 am; or
2:00 pm to 2:45 pm; or
3:30 pm to 4:45 pm

Reservations may only be made by the person attending the event.
Please DO NOT call the Convent before 10:00 am or after 8:00 pm during which time the Sister observe the Great Silence.
Please remember to give generous gifts so that the weekend retreats will continue to be offered. The costs of each weekend increase every year. The only income the Retreat House realizes is from the gifts from participants.
Participants are expected to attend ALL activities during an event.
All events are open to both men and women. There is no set charge for the events at St Gabriel?s, however, your donations are essential for this ministry to continue.
All of the events will be silent, except "A Plainsong Day" (November 3, 2007) and "Prayer Practicum" (April 26, 2008).
With the exception of the Poustinia Days, all one day events include lunch.
This season the Eucharist will not be included in one day events.
Furnished private rooms are available for all overnight guests. During hot weather, you may wish to bring a small fan. Alarm clocks are available but you may want to bring your own.
Plan to wear casual, modest clothing with consideration for weather conditions.
Nourishing meals are provided for all guests.
Individuals with special dietary needs should arrange to bring their own foods to the extent that is practical.

A DAY IN HIS PRESENCE - Registration 10:00 am. The Day ends with Vespers in the Convent Chapel at 5:00 pm.
An opportunity to spend silence in the presence of our Lord, free from the distractions of your ordinary life. There will be an Introductory Talk. A Sister will be available for brief personal Conferences on spiritual matters. The Chaplain will be available for Confessions.

POUSTINIA DAY - Registration 10:00 am. The Day ends with Vespers in the Convent Chapel at 5:00 pm.
"Poustinia", a Russian word meaning "desert" - is a place to meet Christ in Silence, Solitude, and Prayer. A Sister will prepare you for the day in which to spend seven hours away from your busy life to be alone with God. Each retreatant will have an individual room. The Bible is the only book to be read. A small loaf of bread and a beverage will be available.
Reservations open on October 15, 2007 and limited to 20 people for the Poustinia Day.

ONE-DAY EVENTS
St. Gabriel's Retreat House will be hosts four types of One-Day Events on Saturdays.

QUIET DAY
The Quiet Day includes two Addresses and Lunch. Participants are welcome to attend the Offices in the Convent Chapel.

DAY OF REFLECTION
The Day of Reflection includes talks by the Conductor, but no Mass. Lunch will be served, and there will be times for prayer and personal reflection. We will end our silence at 4:30 pm, those present are welcome to attend Vespers in the Convent Chapel.

SATURDAY STUDY DAYS
The specifics for these programs will be set by the Conductor for each Study Day. The day will include teaching addresses and times for prayer and reflection; lunch will be provided. The Day begins with Registration at 10:00 am, and will close with Vespers at 5:00 PM.

MULTI-DAY RETREATS SPRING RETREATS CANCELLED
All the Retreats are Silent. The retreats begin with registration at 5:00 pm. Supper is at 6:00 pm, followed by an orientation session. Silence begins at 8:00 pm and is maintained throughout the Retreat, ending before the last meal. Except for the Holy Week Retreat, these programs run from Friday evening through the mid-day meal on Sunday.

The natural beauty of the convent surrounded by a state park provides a peaceful setting that contributes to the richness of each experience. Individuals who participate in retreats may choose to explore the woodland areas. Walking shoes are essential for exploring the wooded areas.
